Sport Specific Athletic Programs

BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER!!

Long term success in athletics requires participation in a quality Strength & Conditioning Program.  Too many talented athletes fail to reach their potential because they are never exposed to quality instruction in the weightroom or on the track.

Sport coaches (football, volleyball, etc) may be experts in their chosen sport but not necessarily expert on how to coach a kid in the weightroom.  Additionally, programs that group large numbers of kids together suffer in their quality of training and a lack of progress or injury is often the result.

I am a certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting and a certified personal trainer through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.

At Kingwood Strength & Conditioning, I never train more than 3 or 4 athletes at a time (and usually just one or two) and detailed records are kept for each workout to ensure continued progress.

Our programs are tailored to individuals and individual sports.  However in each program we attempt to address the following with our athletes:

1) Strength -

Athletes are taught how to CORRECTLY perform essential strength training movements such as squats, powercleans, presses, deadlifts, etc.  These movements are essential for all athletes and there is no substitute for them.

2) Speed -

We are NOT a fly by night speed camp that groups dozens of kids together and runs them into the ground. GETTING TIRED DOES NOT MAKE YOU FASTER!!  Speed must be carefully programmed just like strength.

3) Power -

The necessary blend of strength & speed.  Our athletes are trained to become more powerful by the correct application of the Olympic Lifts (Clean & Snatch) as well as a carefully monitored plyometric program (also known as “Jump Training”).

4) Agility/Balance/Coordination

Quick foot ladders as well as various sport specific cone drills keep athletes nimble and teaches them how to move their bodies efficiently in multiple directions.

I have proven Strength & Conditioning programs for athletes in all of the following sports:

  • Football
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Swimming
  • Baseball / Softball
  • Martial Arts (including MMA)
  • Powerlifting

Jaime Friedrickson (Swimming) - KHS Varsity and Blue Tide Swimmer.

Here is a video of Jaime doing some heavy back squats to help develop leg power.  This has helped Jaime become more explosive coming off the blocks and pushing off the wall during her turns.
