Powerlifting (with video)
Powerlifting is a sport that contests the individuals limit strength in three lifts: The Squat, The Bench Press, and The Deadlift.
Training for powerlifting, competitive or non competitive, is a great way to build total body strength, and even athletes of other sports (football, wrestling, etc) can benefit by increasing their strength on these three essential lifts.
For those who may be interested in the sport of powerlifting, I compete in the Natural Association of Strength Athletes.
If you would like any information about getting into the sport, or would like to start on a powerlifting oriented training program, then I may be able to help you.
I do not use any type of squat suit or bench shirt, so if you are interested in equipped powerlifting, I will not be able to help you.
Competition and Training Footage
Here is a video of me (Andy Baker, owner and trainer at Kingwood Strength & Conditioning) competing in the squat at the South Texas State Powerlifting meet in Alvin TX. The first lift is 455 lbs, the second is 475 lbs.
