Powerlifting (with video)

Powerlifting is a sport that contests the individuals limit strength in three lifts:  The Squat, The Bench Press, and The Deadlift.

Training for powerlifting, competitive or non competitive, is a great way to build total body strength, and even athletes of other sports (football, wrestling, etc) can benefit by increasing their strength on these three essential lifts.

For those who may be interested in the sport of powerlifting, I compete in the Natural Association of Strength Athletes.

If you would like any information about getting into the sport, or would like to start on a powerlifting oriented training program, then I may be able to help you.

I do not use any type of squat suit or bench shirt, so if you are interested in equipped powerlifting, I will not be able to help you.

My Competitions

I am proud to announce that on July 17, 2010 I took first place in the 198 lb Unequipped division at the NASA Grand Nationals Powerlifting Meet.  I set an American Record 529 lb Squat and a Texas State Record 380 lb Bench Press.  Along with those two lifts I set a personal record for myself with a 562 lb Deadlift.

Here is video from a recent competition:  The NASA East Texas State (January 2010).  I took first place in the 220 lb division:
